14

Jess and I got together 14 years ago today.

Around that time:

The first season of Major League Soccer kicked off.

Everything but the Girl was #1 in music.

The Birdcage was #1 in film.

Doesn't seem that long ago.

Chicken finally gets her wish of having a "Ha-kuck"

First, a car is chosen- Chicken goes with the VW Bug

Second, the ha-kucking begins

Patent Law...

bores the hell out of Lucy*

*seriously, I was discussing obviousness and how Bilski might affect making a case against, when she yawned** in what can fairly be described as a lion-esque manner.

**Just looking at this picture makes me want to yawn.

More of What Lucy is Up To

Lucy is...

mocking us: "Lucy no - don't do that"
loving us: "papa gets big hug"
making us earn it: "hug missing - ok, tiny hug"
astounding us: "puzzle done - I did it!"
following the principles of Rudolf Steiner: "papa sew carrots, Lucy ride hobby horse?"
and
being every bit a 2 year old: "there's an elephant on my shirt!"

De Kai!

Lucy and her favorite person in the world, Kailynn. We can't wait until he is old enough to babysit.

What Lucy Is Up To

Lucy does what most just-turned-two-year olds do. She is talking, learning that she is a separate entity in this world (and not one unified person named LucyMamaPapa), and is very physically active. Here are some details:

She spells her name, Papa, Mama, Kai, and recognizes most letters.
She counts to ten while jumping with each number.
She throws one or two somersaults into her normal routine of walking.
She tells papa to move away, often using hands to papa's face to ensure compliance.
She likes Mike the Bike best in Dr. Suess' "One fish, two fish..." book, although she has never walked with ten cats on her head.
She and Olivia (the pig in the books) are kindred spirits.

more to come...
